Haarkon Adventures

Let’s be real, many of us have dreamed of traveling the world, taking photos of the beautiful locations we visit. UK-based duo India and Magnus get to do just that with their platform Haarkon Adventures.

With a mission to 'inspire individuals to connect with the natural world through observation and experience', the pair have explored the world, documenting their adventures through photography. The @haarkon_ Insta page is filled with stunning photos from their travels.

So, how did they get started? 'Haarkon Adventures began as somewhere to share all the places that we visited whilst on assignment for clients (we are professional photographers),' India and Magnus say. 'We travel quite a lot for work, and would extend a trip in order to explore more, and so we created a platform to be able to share those stories with others.'

India and Magnus have had the opportunity to travel extensively, and their Insta feed shows it. As they have travelled so much, we were curious to know about some of the most breath-taking places they’d been to.

'There are so many incredible places that we’ve had the pleasure of travelling to,' they say. 'We recently spent a month in South East Asia, getting to know Singapore, Siem Reap (Cambodia), Luang Prabang (Laos), Chiang Mai (Thailand) and Bali (Indonesia).

In 2017, we made a very special trip to Japan and it completely changed the way that we see things – we loved it so much that we visited again last year and decided to write a book about our experiences.' The pair have also written a book about their time spent in Japan and one about their time spent in Scotland – titled Haarkon Adventures Japan and Haarkon Adventures Scotland, respectively. Both of the books are available for purchase on their website, and the travelling duo say they hope to continue to expand the series in the future!

India and Magnus often get asked about the cameras they use for their gorgeous travel shots. Both photographers have Fujifilm mirrorless setups for their travel and everyday setups. The pair have even written a blog post about the equipment they use here, for those who wish to know more.

COVID-19 has put a hold on travel plans for the vast majority of us. We asked Haarkon Adventures what places are on their bucket list for when travel opens back up again.

'We don’t really have a list,' the pair says. 'Our travel aspirations are very much about getting to know the UK a little more, and becoming more familiar with what we have on our doorstep. We live in almost the middle of the country, so it will be monumental for us to see the sea again, therefore, that will probably form the basis of any trips we might take!

Being a relatively small island, we don’t have to travel too far to find stunning coastline.' We’re excited to see the travel adventures the pair get up to in the future!
