About this plant

Native to eastern Africa, the ZZ stores water in thick underground rhizomes, so it can go weeks without water. Its shiny leaves look almost artificial, and it's a top choice for offices and darker rooms. 'Raven' is a striking near-black variety.

Best spots

Offices, hallways, bedrooms, dim corners and spaces with fluorescent light.
