Built for Permanence
These troughs have already survived generations outdoors in a tropical climate
Sourced from the villages of Indonesia. Shaped by centuries.
They are heavy, honest, and imperfect in all the right ways — worn smooth at the rim where hands have rested for generations, carrying the kind of patina that can't be manufactured.
Is each planter genuinely one-of-a-kind, or are these reproductions?
Genuinely one-of-one. Each piece is a reclaimed antique, hand-carved from a single block of Indonesian limestone decades ago and originally used for water or grain storage in local villages. There is exactly one of each planter — once it's sold, that exact piece is gone.
Do these planters have drainage holes?
No — unless specifically noted on the individual product page, these planters have no drainage holes, as they weren't originally made as garden planters. If you're planting directly, we'd recommend drilling a hole yourself (limestone can be drilled with the right masonry bit) or planting in a liner pot that sits inside the trough instead.
Are the dimensions exact?
Not precisely — these are organic, hand-carved shapes, so one side of a planter may be slightly longer than another, or the internal depth may vary across its length. The dimensions listed are the closest practical measurement, not a manufactured, uniform spec.
Can these be used indoors as well as outdoors?
Yes. Beyond garden use, these troughs work well as indoor planters, freestanding sinks, water features, or sculptural pieces — they were built to survive generations outdoors in a tropical climate, so indoor conditions pose no issue.
How heavy are these, and will I need help moving one into place?
Very heavy — these are solid, hand-carved blocks of stone, not a hollow or lightweight material. Most pieces will need two or more people, or mechanical assistance, to position.
Can I choose the exact planter I receive, or will markings differ from the product photo?
The photos on each product page are of that specific, individual planter — since each one is one-of-one, what you see is the exact piece you'll receive, markings and all.
