Martin Brothers : A short history
We love being inspired by our amazing clients and the work they do. A young company from South East Queensland, Martin Brothers, are an up and coming force in Brisbane. We first came across them as they installed our pots for some high end developments in conjunction with Aria Property Group. As the name suggests, two brothers are at the helm, Jack and Will Martin. Having worked on some of the finest developments in the area, we tried to pin them down for a quick chat. It proved harder than we imagined!
TBG: Thanks for your time Jack.
JM: No problems.
TBG: Tell us about your local area?
JM: We complete work across South East Queensland, however we specifically started in the New Farm/ Fortitude Valley area. The houses in New Farm are typically little old cottages, most of which by now have seen a renovation or a modern extension. “The Valley” is it’s neighbouring suburb which has a bit more hustle and bustle. It is filled with high end apartments, retail spaces and restaurants. It is a very cool hood to be apart of! Our office is also in the Valley.

TBG: How did you get to where you are now?
JM: My brother Will and I started our business very organically. It started three years ago mowing lawns in our local neighbourhood, which then led to small landscape upgrades and so on. Our skills and industry knowledge developed as we took on larger and larger jobs. We shortly grew a passion for the trade and business and the rest is history. We now have 40 plus staff, our structural landscape licence and a work log with some of the best builders, developers and home owners in South East Queensland.
TBG: What would be a favourite project so far?
JM: I have two favourites really. First one would have to be St Julien for Aria (Aria Property Group) in South Brisbane. St Julien is a modern high rise building with a subtropical planting theme. It is an amazing development. We also threw in some Balcony Garden pots in the finishing touches! The second favourite would have to be a retail development in James St for international tenants Pottery Barn and West Elm. We installed a large roof top/awning garden full of mature cactuses, palms and vines creating a Palm Springs like vibe.

TBG: Describe your perfect Sunday?
JM: Our perfect Sunday would start with a surf in the morning. Saturday is just another work day at Martin Brothers so it is good to restart and refresh with a few waves on the Sunday morning. The afternoon and early evening is spent organising work for the week then it’s a family dinner back with our parents, brother and little sister.
TBG: Lastly, where do you see yourselves in 5 years?
JM: We see the business continuing to grow at a similar rate. We believe by instilling our passion our trade and customer service in our team we can continue to grow and still give the ‘small business service’. The culture and Martin Brothers is second to none and our team is everything. You will hear plenty more of us!
