It's Official. We are 100% Carbon Neutral.

Today we are extremely proud to announce that our entire organisation, manufacturing supply chain and product life cycle is 100% carbon neutral.

In doing so, The Balcony Garden is Australia's (and possibly the world's) only 100% carbon neutral garden pot company!

“Lessening our environmental footprint is at the core of everything we do at The Balcony Garden™, and that is why this announcement is so important for us.” says company founder Josh Harrison.

“Obtaining carbon neutrality is one of my proudest achievements in business. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that everything we do from an organisational level right through to our products is 100% carbon neutral."

The Balcony Garden is Australia’s largest online pot & planter store and manufactures its products in Vietnam, Thailand, and Italy. With a diverse and complex supply chain, it’s been a long journey towards achieving carbon neutrality.

“Our team has been working towards our target for over 18 months. The changes we’ve implemented along the way have not only improved our environmental impact - they’ve made our manufacturing processes more efficient and improved our overall supply chain,” says Josh.

The commitment reflects The Balcony Garden's focus on becoming a more sustainable organisation by improving environmental performance and driving long-term, sustainable growth.

We offset our emissions through investments in the following nature-based and renewable energy carbon offset projects; 'Winds of Change' project in India and China. Wind power has some of the lowest environmental impacts of any source of electricity generation. Unlike conventional sources, wind power significantly reduces carbon emissions, saves billions of gallons of water a year and cuts pollution that creates smog and causes health problems. These projects also create employment in the emerging renewable energy industry and help to stimulate local business development.

Winds of Change - India

Across India, wind farms introduce clean energy to the grid which would otherwise be generated by coal-fired power stations. Wind power is clean in two ways: it produces no emissions and also avoids the local air pollutants associated with fossil fuels. Electricity availability in the regions has been improved, reducing the occurrence of blackouts across the area.

Winds of Change - China

Wind Power Projects constructed across China introduce clean energy into the nation's rapidly expanding power grid, which has traditionally been dominated by fossil fuel-fired power plants. The location of these renewable energy power plants is strategically important with many located on power grids that supply China's main population centres, such as China's capital city, Beijing.
